Last Sunday, the Walking for Gilad event began with an outstanding amount of walkers, over 600 people attended at Green Park tube station and marched along the streets of London. At the theatre event, over 1000 arrived with a total sell out of seats.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has signed a Rosh Hashan greeting card for Gilad as a part of the international campaign launched earlier this month with the support of the Jewish News. Thousands of New Year cards have been collected from personalities and communities worldwide.

Ehud Banai, one of Israel’s music icons has been announced as the surprise guest musician at the event.

One of Israel’s most respected musicians, Ehud Banai was one of the first artists to attempt to incorporate traditional Middle Eastern motifs into Western-style rock music. He has written music in many different styles, including Dylanesque folk, surrealistic dream ballads, dub, musical versions of Arabic folk tales, and others. Ehud Banai has become an national legend, one of the few artists who can truly claim universal respect in Israel.

We will then forward them to the office of the RED CROSS in Israel with a request to be delivered PERSONALLY(!!!) to Gilad in captivity. The respected Lyric Theatre off Piccadily Circus, has been announced today as the main event venue for the event “Walking for Gilad”. This classical English theatre, is one of the oldest theatres in its area, open since 1932. Located on 29 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 7ES.
